Financial Aid for Study Abroad
Students
who study abroad may be eligible for financial aid to offset their costs.
Eligibility
requirements:
- the student must be an eligible regular student enrolled in
an eligible program at DSU; and
- DSU must approve the study abroad enrollment for academic
credit
In
many cases students may apply their financial aid to cover study abroad
expenses. The amount of assistance that students are eligible to receive may be
adjusted to offset the added travel expenses. Students must file a FAFSA to be considered for Federal Financial Aid.
Students
should keep in mind that federal financial aid is disbursed at the beginning of
each semester, for instance they will not have access to spring semester
financial aid until the beginning of the spring semester. Students may not have access to financial aid
funds until after payment is due to the study abroad host institution.
Contact
the DSU Financial Aid Office at fa@dsu.edu or
605-256-5152 to begin the process to apply for additional financial aid for a
study abroad. Students will need to
provide an estimate of the study abroad costs to the DSU Financial Aid Office
in addition to details regarding the academic credit that will be earned.
